Vent-Free gas heaters are equipped with an ODS pilot assembly to shut off the supply of gas to the heater/fireplace if the oxygen level drops below 18%. During operation, if the pilot flame goes out for any reason, the thermocouple cools and shuts off the gas valve, which stops the flow of gas.
